To get to Hoi An from Da Nang, take No 1 mini bus heading south, and the fare is 20,000 Dong but foreigners are known to get ripped off being charged upto 50,000 Dong. Yep Vietnam is the country that you sometimes negotiate the price on the bus.
Hoi An is only 30 Kms away from Da Nang, so this bus should take you there in about one hour.
Houses in Hoi An stand out like this.
Not very far from the bus terminal, there is a hostel called “Blue lake” which locates superbly in a quiet neighborhood. This hostel offers a super clean dorm bed for 130,000 Dong with a free use of a bicycle.
The bicycle the hostel owns uses a belt for the drive rather than the conventional chain.
Hoi An oozes out its charm through the shops in old town. Well I admit this town has gone over the line of the commercialism that can get upto, but it stays within the higher position on the list to be visited.
When you come to the old town, bring a thick wallet as the price hikes double or triple of the ones you used to pay in another place.
Once again it is best if you push-bike around the old town.
This ticket is not necessary if you only want to look around the old town. The highly overpriced ticket allows you to visit five historical places which can be like temples or an old house. Not worth 120,000 Dong.
Art galleries are abundant.
Two old local ladies come on a fancy scooter wearing a Nong and Ao dai.
There is a beach in Hoi An if you are a beach bum. An-Bang beach.
Most people revisit old town again at night for the show of lanterns.
